The Cultural Award of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Photographie (DGPh)

The Cultural Award of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Photographie (DGPh) was founded on 2. October 1958. In the foundation charter signed by the DGPh president at that time, Dr. Gerhard Schröder, it reads: "The Cultural Award... distinguishes outstanding services achieved using photography, especially in the arts, humanitarian, caritative, social, technical, educational or scientific field". The award comprises a certificate as well as a gold-mounted lens and is presented every year, alongside the Dr.-Erich-Salomon Award for outstanding photography in journalism, as the highest distinction of the DGPh.

The award winners include internationally renowned scientists, inventors, writers, publishers, editors, lecturers, art directors and, in particular, top photographers from Germany and abroad.
